THE BRIEF

Locker is a sports app designed to deliver personalised news, from thousands of publishers to fans instantly. Fifty-Three Six were tasked with launching the Locker app in the Irish market across multiple digital platforms. The goal was to promote awareness of the new app, drive app downloads and, over time, increase daily average users.

STRATEGY & EXECUTION

The Fifty-Three Six digital team developed an app install conversion funnel and content strategy that would take prospects through multiple touch points building brand awareness, product knowledge before driving app downloads and in-app engagement. 

The creative strategy included Fifty-Three Six being tasked to generate a brand video and supplementary creative to increase product knowledge and ultimately lead to app downloads across iOS and Android. We created an animated video along with many ad variations to target different demographics and sporting audiences, this was updated frequently to keep up to date with the fast-moving sports world.

We targeted users with a brand video and hero sports content, highlighting the value of the Locker App using dynamic ad placements that were personalised for segmented audiences. We segmented the funnel through analysing user data, noting which sports were most popular in-app then creating bespoke creative that resonated with that sport’s audience i.e. Rugby, GAA, Soccer, NFL.

With being a startup, Locker did not have unlimited media spend, so we had to be tactical about the channels & placements used - those being Apple Search Ads, Google UAC, Meta App install campaigns and Twitter App install campaigns along with brand campaigns across YouTube and Meta. We integrated our mobile measurement partner Adjust to inform our decisions regarding where to optimise and which platform was driving the most engaged user. We also used this data to adapt the messaging strategy across all channels and tied this in to live and trending sports news, hosted by the app.

RESULTS

The campaign to date has had strong results with over 15,000 downloads in UKI alongside over 100K app sessions. This has provided Locker with valuable data to grow/scale the app, building a brand within Ireland to increase investment opportunities going forward.
